WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

The Georgia Pet Coalition (GPC) is a unique statewide partnership wholly dedicated to legislative advocacy on behalf of companion animals. We work to end animal abuse before it begins. Our IRS status as a 501(c)4 allows us to fully utilize a professional lobbyist, in combination with grassroots advocates, to promote humane policy positions to state lawmakers. Georgia has hundreds of 501(c)3 animal welfare organizations but their lobbying efforts are limited by law and electioneering is entirely prohibited. The GPC is nonpartisan and comprised of an all-volunteer board of directors and staff. Your donations are the sole source of support for our professional lobbyist.

 

PRIORITY ISSUES

• Outlaw puppy mills

• Eliminate backyard breeding

• Support policies for accessible and affordable spay/neuter programs

• Strengthen laws for animal cruelty and neglect

• Outlaw inhumane chaining/tethering of dogs

• Promote enforcement of existing animal protection laws

• Support civil immunity for professionals who report suspected cases of animal abuse associated with interpersonal violence and collateral crimes

• Support education programs for law enforcement and the general public
